Well, 2021 has been quite a year, hasn’t it?

We here at The Lance are COVID conscious, as we all must be. It is difficult to publish a student newspaper, even online, when reporters can’t cover stories when the campus is semi-closed. But we have been building a new Lance that covers and reflects the UWindsor community in these COVID-19 times.

So, welcome to The Lance, UWindsor’s student newspaper, featuring a new site that we hope to build as we go, and featuring a new cast of characters bringing you the news at the U.

Our vision is an online publishing format that is, at first, slightly restricted by COVID-19 yet adaptable to a future when our journalists can cover stories in person on campus and in the wider community.

In our first edition of The Lance, we will be introducing you to our newest journalists – Michael Hugall, Rebecca Haddad, and Monste Pineda Castro. We also welcome stories and tips from you – as move to a complete student-centred publication, we need your voices and opinions to keep us connected with what matters.

Take a look around the site in the meantime (maybe even follow us on socials if you haven’t yet); we’ll be doing some housekeeping around here so we apologize in advance if there’s any hiccups along the way.
